A WANTED man was found and detained after acting suspiciously at a Dorset train station.
Officers attended a report of a man’s behaviour at Christchurch train station which resulted in a stop and search.
After the search, a knife was found, and the man was also wanted on prison recall and arrested for drug-related offences.
This crime comes after the launch of Sceptre, a new campaign created to crack down on knife crime.
A spokesperson for Bournemouth Police said: “On arrival, the male was located at the train station and with reports from members of the public that the male was concealing something he was detained for a stop and search.
“As a result, a knife was located on his person and the male is now assisting police with the investigation.
“After checking our national police database, it was established the male was also wanted on prison recall and was also further arrested for drug-related offences.
“Today Sceptre is being launched as a national campaign to fight knife crime by the NPCC, Dorset Police will be supporting this campaign and soon will have bins to surrender knives at local police stations.
“We also wanted to make it clear to those out there who think about carrying knives that it is not the right choice and if found in possession police will take positive action in dealing with knife-related offences.”
