POOLE Pirates have learned their semi-final opponents in the Championship Knockout Cup, with a repeat of last year’s final against Scunthorpe Scorpions.
Scunthorpe stunned Poole in 2023 to end their hopes of winning the trophy for a third year in succession.
But Pirates will get a chance for revenge in this year’s event, after Scorpions produced a huge comeback to progress into the last four.
Trailing by 18 points from the first leg against Berwick Bandits, Rob Godfrey’s side won 63-27 at the Eddie Wright Raceway to progress 99-81 on aggregate.
Poole reached the semi-finals after edging past Edinburgh Monarchs.
Dates for the two-legged tie with Scunthorpe are yet to be confirmed.
The other semi-final sees Oxford Cheetahs take on Redcar Bears.
Poole’s next focus is the BSN Series, with crucial home and away meetings against Plymouth Gladiators in the coming days.
