FRONTMAN of 1980s band Spandau Ballet, Tony Hadley, is set to perform in Poole this summer.

Poole Lighthouse has announced 'pop legend' Tony Hadley will perform in their Concert Hall on August 31 with tickets on sale from May 3.

Tony is known for his stint as the frontman for the popular 80s band Spandau Ballet which had numerous number-one hits across the world including 'Through the Barricades' and 'True'.

A spokesperson for Lighthouse said: "London born and bred, Tony thought his future lay in medicine until as a young lad he won a holiday singing competition and decided his vocation was to sing…. The rest is history.

"More than 40 years on from the beginning of Spandau Ballet, Tony’s unmistakable voice still brims with passion and urgency as it first did all those years ago."

Beyond his music career, Tony has worked in radio on Absolute Radio and now every Sunday morning on BBC Three Counties.

He has also been a big supporter of charities, regularly performing and raising funds including an annual golf day supporting the work of children's hospices.

Every year, Tony and his TH Band perform continuously at concerts and festivals all over the world.
