FIREFIGHTERS extinguished a lorry which had caught fire at Holes Bay in Poole this afternoon.
A call was made to Dorset Fire and Rescue Service by the police with reports of a wheel catching fire on a heavy goods vehicle on the A350.
One crew from Poole Fire Station was mobilised but later stood down after the lorry had made its own way to Poole Fire Station, followed by officers from Dorset Police.
A crew from the station used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire, which was located in the brake system of a front wheel.
The cause of the fire was determined as overheated brakes on the lorry and the damage was confined to the vehicle’s brake shoes.
