A 59-year-old motorcyclist from Hampshire died on Tuesday evening after a collision on the B3078 in Dorset.
The accident happened between Cranborne and Horton and involved the rider of the Suzuki GSX and a Mercedes Sprinter van.
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed for around four hours from 5pm to 9pm.
The landlord of the Horton Inn, Tony Stone, said he saw the air ambulance land in a field nearby.
"This is a dangerous stretch of road. At least three motorcyclists have been involved in serious accidents in the past year alone."
He said on Tuesday morning police had closed the road to get a car out of a hedge. "In my opinion people drive too fast for the road conditions."
Next of kin have been informed.
Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact Pc Stroud at Poole traffic division on 101 quoting incident 21/365.
