CHARACTERS from outer space, the Wild West and scenes from under the sea were just some of the sights on offer during Winton Carnival on Saturday.
Thousands of people turned out for the annual extravaganza, enjoying the warm weather and sunshine in the shopping area as well as at Winton Recreation Ground, where the procession came to a halt.
Families, young and old, lined the streets for the parade along Wimborne Road to see the many groups taking part in the colourful community event.

Led by Bournemouth Carnival Band in their eye-catching Spiderman suits and followed by Poole Town Crier David Squire, spectators crammed onto the pavements cheered as the carnival parade passed by.
There were dancing groups including Adagio Dance Academy, Dance Bournemouth with the Cherriettes, Hammond Academy of Performing Arts and Dance Zone.
And rousing music was provided by Meridian Corps of Drums, Samba Panashe, The Salvation Army, and Bournemouth Carnival Band.
Youngsters from St Luke's School also made an appearance dressed up as a menagerie of different animals, with Leaps and Bounds Day Nursery going for a supersonic space theme.
And a large group of Brownies, Rainbows and Guides from across the area came dressed as characters from the Wild West.
Mel Bray, spokesperson for Winton Carnival said: "The thinking behind it is that in a community having fun and coming together, bad things happen less.
"We're really trying to create a village idea here.
"The enjoy themselves together and there is less room for anti-social behaviour.
"That's really the driving force behind the idea.
"It's a day to make people happy."
A tribute was also given to carnival chairman Anson Westbrook who died last November.
Mr Westbrook helped to create and organise the event as well as campaigning on other issues in the community.
A piper was due to play for a few minutes at the recreation ground during the afternoon in his memory.
There were stalls and attractions laid out at the recreation ground to keep youngsters amused as well as performances from different bands and dancers throughout the day.
