FIREFIGHTERS were this morning damping down after arsonists caused another major heath blaze at Studland.
Four fire engines, four Land Rovers and one Uni Mog vehicle were called to the site near Agglestone Rock after Dorset Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the huge blaze at 8.44pm on Monday by a person in a boat off Old Harry Rocks.
The fire could be seen from Bournemouth Pier.
At 10.30pm A DFRS spokesperson said around 36 firefighters were battling the blaze, using five hose reel jets and beating.
She added that 500sq metres of gorse and undergrowth was alight. The National Trust and Natural England had been informed of the blaze, which is occurring on a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
She said that "good progress" was being made to quell the blaze.
On Sunday, arsonists torched land near Greenlands Farm. Six fire crews attended and some firefighters returned to the scene yesterday to damp down hot spots.
The fire service said this morning they had a Land Rover on Godlingston Heath "damping down numerous hotspots after its the malicious ignition last night".
