A FESTIVAL celebrating the best of an East Dorset market town is set to take place later this year.
The week-long Wimborne 10 will feature some of the town’s best-loved businesses, including restaurants, independent shops and attractions.
The event will replace the popular Wimborne Food Festival, which was postponed this year after funding troubles.
Organiser Jenny Brown, marketing and events manager for the town’s Business Improvement District (BID), said: “We knew we wouldn’t be able to put on an event like the festival in the time that we had, but we hope that what we do have planned will offer lots to do for shoppers and visitors.
“It’s got something for everyone.”
The BID team had originally planned a week of foodie events, but discovered many of the town’s shopping venues also wanted to take part.
“Rather than featuring street food stalls, it will focus on all businesses in Wimborne,” Jenny said.
“We want all business to be involved in some way with the event.”
Promotions and offers themed around the number 10 will be available throughout the week at each of the venues taking part.
There will also be food demonstrations and wine tasting, as well as a historical cooking display at Priest’s House Museum and a vintage tea party at the model town.
Jenny said: “It might be that a restaurant is offering a £10 off deal, or a shop may have a 10 per cent reduction during the week, but everyone taking part will feature deals around number 10.
“A steering committee has already been formed to start planning the event for next year, so we do see this as being an annual event for the town.”
Visitors will be able to pick up a leaflet featuring information about the festival from participating businesses and the Tourist Information Centre from mid-October.
Wimborne 10 will take place from October 26 to November 1.
