POLICE have released CCTV images following an assault in Boscombe.
Officers want to speak to any witnesses to the attack, in which a 38-year-old Bournemouth man was set upon by two men in the pedestrian precinct at Christchurch Road, close to Sainsbury’s.
Police also want to speak to the two men pictured in the images, which a spokesman said were the best quality available.
The victim, who is 5ft 11ins tall and has shoulder length blond hair, was wearing a dark coloured coat and blue jeans and was carrying a white carrier bag.
He was suddenly approached by two men who then punched him repeatedly to the head and kicked him in the leg. He sustained bruising and swelling to his face and leg.
Police said that the incident was over in a couple of minutes and the two offenders ran away in the direction of NatWest bank and went down Ashley Road past the bus station.
It happened between 1.15 and 1.30am on Friday, May 30, but police have only released details today.
PC Roan Doyle, of Bournemouth police, said: “Following further enquiries, I am now able to release CCTV images of two men who may be able to help with the investigation.
“I would urge the men pictured – and anyone who recognises them – to call Dorset Police.
“This was a nasty assault that has left the victim in considerable pain and I urge any witnesses and anyone with information about those responsible to come forward.
“I am also keen to speak with a good Samaritan that assisted the victim following the attack. He is described as a white man, aged between 30 and 35 and around five feet ten inches tall.
“He has short brown hair and was wearing blue jeans and a blue jacket. It is believed he may own a white or lightly coloured Staffordshire terrier dog, or similar breed.”
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 30:81. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
