FIRE crews have successfully dealt with a silo fire at Holton Heath Trading Park.
Ten firefighters from Poole fire station were working to help move smouldering wood pellets from a large silo site. They were called to the site around 11am on Christmas Eve.
A Dorset Fire & Rescue Service (DFRS) spokesman told the Daily Echo yesterday: “It is a protracted incident. We will be there for some time, manually helping to shift smouldering wood pellets.
“We are helping staff at the site move these wood-chippings out of the silo with forklift trucks.”
This morning, the fire service said that crews remained on site into the evening, removing the last contents of the silo and damping down.
The cause of the fire was unknown and the damage was confined to the contents of the silo.
