A MAN is this morning continuing to fight for his life after a car left the road and hit a tree in Bournemouth at the weekend.
Dorset Police said the man, one of four in a silver Honda Civic which crashed in Durley Chine Road in the early hours of Saturday morning, suffered life threatening injuries and was being treated at Southampton General Hospital.
A second man was treated at Poole Hospital for facial injuries and discharged later that day.
No other vehicles were involved.
Three men - two aged 18 and 20 from Poole and one aged 29 from Bournemouth - were arrested on suspicion of traffic offences and have been released on police bail until mid April, pending further enquiries.
Paramedics also attended the scene, in the early hours of Saturday morning, and gave the casualties on-the-spot treatment.
Witnesses to the aftermath told the Daily Echo that Durley Chine Road remained sealed off at the St Michael's Roundabout end for several hours.
One hotel worker, who asked not to be named, said: “There was lots of police activity, officers in the road taking measurements early in the morning when we came into work."
The crash happened about 30ft from the St Michael's Roundabout, on the right hand side of Durley Chine Road heading south.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “At approximately 4.14am a serious injury road traffic collision took place Durley Chine Road.
“A silver Honda Civic left the road at the nearside and collided with a tree. Two of the four male occupants sustained injuries."
Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses to contact the force with information on 101 quoting incident number 7:70.
