A WOMAN who plunged to her death from cliffs at a popular Purbeck beauty spot has been named as Christine Wilson, 56, from Swanage.
She died of multi-organ failure due to trauma and hypothermia, an inquest in Bournemouth was told.
Dorset coroner Sheriff Payne heard Ms Wilson, who suffered from bipolar disorder, had stopped taking her medication before driving to Peveril Point Road in Swanage on Saturday, February 6.
The inquest was told she was seen to jump off the edge of the cliff and suffered severe injuries when she hit rocks below.
The incident was seen by a duty watch keeper from the nearby Coastwatch lookout, who is believed to have comforted her until help arrived.
Ms Wilson was taken to Southampton Hospital for treatment but died just before 3am the next morning.
Police, ambulance crews and coastguard rescue officers all rushed to the scene, at Peveril Point, at 2.30pm on February 6, in treacherous weather conditions.
The inquest was adjourned until July 21.
