If you had your eyes to the skies this morning you may have spotted this rare cloud formation.
Steve Beck captured this timelapse footage of the striking clouds, known as Fallstreak Holes or hole-punch clouds, as they passed by.
The clouds were seen over Bournemouth, Poole and the New Forest.
Fallstreak Holes occur when the water temperature in the clouds is below freezing but the water has not yet frozen.
These water droplets need a nucleus to freeze or to be cooled below -40 °C.
When ice crystals do form, it will see off a domino effect due to the Bergeron process, causing the water vapour around it to freeze and fall.
This leaves a large hole in the cloud.
