A DOG which attacked a woman's Springer Spaniel while on the loose in Poole has been located.
The 'stocky' dog, believed to be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier or similar, was spotted on a section of the Castleman Trailway a number of times over the past few weeks but never with an owner.
One dog owner said she had been left "shaken" after the dog approached her from behind, before pinning her dog Maisie to the ground.
Other walkers said they intended to avoid the popular footpath until the dog was located.
But now, after the dog wardens at Borough of Poole were informed of the incidents, the dog was tracked down.
Jeff Morley, Team Manager, Borough of Poole, said: “The dog is owned by a local resident which on occasion escapes from the back garden onto the Trailway. We have given advice to the owner.”
