Emergency services were called to the beach at Highcliffe after the body of a man was found.
Police and ambulance were called to the scene, near Highcliffe Castle, after the discovery by dog walkers around 8.30am on Sunday.
Coastguard are also on scene.
The body has now been recovered.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at around 8.20am, that sadly the body of a man had been found on the beach near Highcliffe Castle in Christchurch.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner’s office has been notified.
"The man’s next of kin has been informed."
