HARRY Redknapp joked that he might be preparing a bid for Cherries star Darren Anderton after seeing his Portsmouth side ease to victory in their pre-season clash.
The Pompey boss saw Lomana Lua Lua's hat-trick and Niko Kranjcar's strike prove more than enough to seal a 4-1 win, with Brett Pitman replying with a late penalty for the home side.
But Redknapp, who tried to sign Anderton twice during his tenure at Fratton Park, believes the former England midfielder could still be performing at the top level.
Redknapp told the Daily Echo: "I thought Bournemouth had some decent movement, played some good balls into feet and in Darren Anderton, they still have a fantastic player.
"In the right team and with the right players around him, I honestly think he could still be playing in the Premiership.
"When you can still cross and pass the ball like he can and can still get around the pitch, he could do it no problem.
"In fact, I might have a word with Kevin and see if I can nick him!"
Cherries boss Kevin Bond retorted: "I'm sure Harry would nick him if he could - but Darren is not for sale!
"If he said he wanted to leave, then I might have to let him go for a few quid, but I don't see that one happening.
"Darren has still got bags of quality, has retained that enthusiasm and rarely gives the ball away. He will be a very big player for us again this season."
Despite a goalless first half, the Premiership side ran out comfortable winners with Bond thankful that his side would not face a team packed with internationals every week in League One.
Bond said: "They have got an abundance of quality in their side. Thankfully, we will not be coming up against that kind of opposition every week.
"We looked quite solid in the first half, but the strange thing was that I thought we played a bit better in the second half and conceded four goals."
Unfortunately for Bond, however, his threadbare resources may have been further depleted after new midfielder Marvin Bartley suffered a wrist injury.
Bond said: "We're not sure how bad it is yet. We think he might have cracked a bone in his wrist, but he'll be sent off for a scan to see how it is."
