DRIVERS caught speeding by an 'invisible' safety camera could be in for a shock.
Despite the fact that the Gatso camera on the inbound Wessex Way, just after the JP Morgan entrance, was recently sprayed grey - making it 'almost invisible' according to one motorist - any prosecution could still take place, according to Dorset Police.
They said they were 'aware of the vandalism'. Repairs were carried out within 24 hours of enquiring about the damage.
However, drivers who believe they could escape any speeding prosecution because the camera is not its more prominent yellow colour are wrong.
"Regardless of the colour of the camera housing prosecution would still take place," said Dorset Police. "A fixed safety camera being spray painted a colour other than yellow does not invalidate prosecution."
