A POLICE investigation is under way following the discovery of a man's body on the beach at Bournemouth.
Emergency services were called to a stretch of beach to the east of Bournemouth Pier at 5.53am yesterday.
Police and ambulance crews attended and inquiries are continuing.
The man found dead was in his 20s and from Bournemouth.
Officers were seen carrying out a detailed search of the beach near Harry Ramsden's, in front of the coloured beach huts.
A police forensics tent was erected on the beach earlier.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "At 5.53am police received a report from the ambulance service that a body of a man had been found on the beach between Bournemouth Pier and Boscombe Pier.
"Officers are currently at the scene looking into the circumstances of the death. His next of kin have been informed."
The man's death is not being treated as suspicious.
