POLICE are warning residents to take care after a man who claimed to be from drainage company Dyno-Rod turned up on the doorstep of a West Moors home last month.

Officials are treating the incident, which happened in Glenwood Road at around midday on Tuesday, December 10, as an attempted fraud.

The victim, an elderly man, was asked for £80 to fix a drain problem. He said he wouldn't pay by cash, but had a debit card, and the cold-caller left.

Police Community Support Officer James Marsh, of Ferndown police, said: “We have spoken to the drainage company and established this man was not one of their employees.

“As part of my enquiries into this incident, I am now in a position to issue a CCTV image of a man I would like to speak to. I would ask anyone who recognises this man to please contact Dorset Police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police via dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55190193973.
