SOUTHBOURNE Coastguard were tasked at 4.09am to Mudeford Quay following reports of a person having a medical episode in the water, their dog was also in the sea.
Once on scene the coastguard administered casualty care whilst waiting for the ambulance and deployed a water rescue technician to recover “Charlie” the dog.
A spokesperson for Southbourne Coastguard said: “With the casualty checked over by the ambulance and “Charlie” none the worse for his adventure we were consequently stood down to return to the station.”
