A NEW community hub and cafe in Churchill Gardens in Boscombe is set to open soon. 

BCP Council's new Gardens Café will be home to the BCP ASPIRE project.

The facility will be home to a food and health community project which will be offering residents who have been long-term unemployed, opportunities to grow fresh produce, learn new skills, focus on health and wellbeing and improve their employment prospects.

BCP Council also said the Gardens Café will continue to offer a community café and space beyond the lifetime of the BCP ASPIRE project.

A spokesperson for local authority said: “We are delighted that the hub in Churchill Gardens is nearing completion and will be soon open for business.

"Activity has ramped up in recent weeks with the finishing touches being made to the building that will provide a brand new café, including new toilet facilities, together with a community space focusing on learning and development.

"Following discussions, the local community has been invited to put forward their suggestions for a name for the hub and a community vote will be taking place shortly to decide the winning name.”

Previously residents campaigned for an existing cafe in the area, Joy Café, to remain after the council announced it would be demolished in lieu of the new building.

When asked when the new building would be opening, BCP Council declined to comment.
