A HOTEL has tabled proposals to make changes to its alfresco dining area.

Frasers Hospitality has submitted a planning application for Hotel Du Vin, which operates in a listed building in Thames Street, Poole.

Permission is sought to carefully remove the existing timber post and sail awning in the internal courtyard.

The hotel wants to replace it with a new modern aluminium framed awning with retractable canvas roof.

A planning, heritage, design and access statement by Dakota House of Design as part of the application said: “In summary the submitted proposal will replace a dilapidated awning which could cause structural damage to some existing building walls.

“By removing and replacing the awning we are future proofing the integrity of the structure.

“It is considered that the proposals will sustain the character of the building’s history and as these are limited to external courtyard only, typically they are not visible from the street, they are sympathetic to the character of the building and do not cause any adverse effects on its historical importance and fabric.”

Two separate applications have been submitted by the local authority as the hotel also needs to obtain listed building consent as well as normal planning permission.
