A VAN has been destroyed and left on a roundabout after being gutted by a fire.
The white Renault has been left burnt out on the side of Richmond Hill roundabout in Bournemouth after catching fire on Thursday morning (April 20).
A crew from Westbourne Fire Station were sent to the van at 5.48am following reports that the entire front of the vehicle was completely alight.
A spokesperson from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire was extinguished by a breathing apparatus wearer and hose reel jet. The police were requested to attend to assist with traffic management.
“Our stop [message] came at 6.26am.”
The service also reported no indication of a cause.
A Dorset Police spokesperson added: “We received a call at 6.14am from the fire service making us aware of a vehicle fire involving a van at Richmond Hill in Bournemouth.
“It was further reported that the fire had been extinguished and the road was clear. There was no requirement for police attendance.”
The charred vehicle remains on the side of the road with the right side of its bumper melted. One headlight has been completely destroyed and the windscreen is also damaged. A note attached to the windscreen reads ‘GRS recovery are aware’.
The vehicle has been coned off near the A347 Wimborne Road junction, but no disruptions have been reported.
