HEAVY rain could bring disruption to Dorset overnight, the Met Office has warned, with thunderstorms also possible.
A yellow weather warning has been issued for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole and the rest of the county.
The warning will be in force from 7pm on Sunday until 9am on Monday morning.
Between 10 and 20mm of rain could be seen with some places seeing as much as 40 to 60mm in as little as three to six hours, the Met Office said.
A Met Office spokesperson said: “An area of heavy rain is expected to develop and move northwestwards across parts of southern and southwest England and the southern half of Wales during Sunday evening, clearing early on Monday morning.
“This will not affect the entire warning area, but within this a corridor of 10-20 mm of rain is likely and there is a chance that a few places may see 40-60 mm within 3 to 6 hours.
“There is also a chance of a few thunderstorms within this area.”
In terms of what to expect, the Met Office said there is a “small chance” homes and businesses could be flooded.
It says spray and flooding could also lead to difficult driving conditions.
Train and bus services could also see delays or cancellations due to flooding.
The Met Office also said there is also a small risk some communities could become cut off by flooding.
The Met Office forecast currently shows light rain for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole between 7pm and 11pm.
Monday is expected to be cloudy in the morning with sunny intervals turning to long spells of sunshine by late afternoon.
