An inquest has opened following the death of a chef in France.
Flinn Sessions, 22 and from Corfe Mullen, was pronounced dead at Quai Ganteaume, La Ciotat, on June 9.
Assistant coroner for Dorset Richard Middleton presided over a brief hearing at Bournemouth Town Hall on June 22.
Coroner’s officer Matt Cave told the inquest: “Authorities have been called following reports of an unresponsive male at the location.
“The gentleman has been recovered from the water and death confirmed. Authorities in France have been undertaking an investigation."
Mr Middleton was told that following a post-mortem examination Mr Sessions’s cause of death had been given as drowning.
The coroner adjourned proceedings, with a pre-inquest review due to take place on December 11.
