A MAN has died after a fatal crash near Sixpenny in North Dorset.

Officers were called at around 6am this morning to a report of a motorbike crash on the A354 between Cashmoor and the Handley Cross roundabout.

Emergency services attended and a man in his 60s from Dorchester was pronounced dead at the scene.

Road closures remain in place for a few hours so a detailed examination of the collision scene can be carried out.

Now, Dorset Police are urging witnesses of the crash to come forward with any information.

Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the man who sadly died in this collision, and we are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

“I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact with us, and I am also keen to hear from anyone who was driving in the vicinity and may have captured relevant dashcam footage.

“Finally, I appreciate this collision has resulted in the closure of a main road for a significant period of time, and I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures.”
