FIREFIGHTERS had to extinguish a flaming Land Rover earlier this week.
The Land Rover Defender, close to Troytown farm, was “well alight” when a fire crew from Bere Regis fire station arrived.
The fire, reported on Tuesday evening, October 8, is believed to have been caused by a mechanical fault.
Nobody was injured in the blaze.
Bere Regis fire station’s spokesman said: “Upon arrival, a Land Rover was found well alight just outside its owner’s home - fortunately, far enough away not to cause harm to the surrounding area, and thankfully nobody was harmed in this incident.
“The fire was extinguished using two hose reel jets by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus. Although the cause of the fire is unknown, it is thought to have been caused by a mechanical fault.
“We would also like to thank The Royal Oak, Bere Regis for unexpectedly popping down with a selection of their tapas evening menu as a surprise drill night treat.
"Suffice to say it gave us the energy we needed to do our job (and was rather delicious).”
