BOURNEMOUTH has been named in yet another survey as the best in Britain when it comes to beaches.
Research by CrossCoun-try trains saw the town beat other scenic destinations such as Newquay, Torquay and Aberdeen to the top spot.
Bournemouth’s seven long miles of golden sand are maintained to the highest international standards for beach cleanliness and environmental management, making them some of the best in the world.
In the other voting categories, Newcastle was voted as the best destination for a city break, with York winning the best heritage category.
Manchester was named the best city for shopping.
Hundreds of families flocked to Bournemouth beach at the weekend to soak up the sun as temperatures topped 20 degrees.
We reported just three weeks ago how the resort also came top in a list of the top ten UK beaches in a survey by the TripAdvisor company, even coming fourth in a list of Europe’s top sands, beating the Costas in Spain and the Canary Islands.
The beach was the only UK one listed in the European top 10.
