THE owner of a Winton electricals and jewellery shop is facing a £15,000 bill after his store was broken into last weekend.
AM Shop, which is part of We Buy Ltd, on Wimborne Road, was struck some time between 6pm on Friday, January 25 and 10am on Saturday, January 26.
The window frames were taken out and the steel door at the back of the building was forced open, before thieves raided the shop of jewellery, laptops, TVs and phones.
Adam Myers, Owner of We Buy Ltd, says that it’s ‘absolutely devastating’ for the business, as they now have to ‘blow the budget’ to replace the items taken, fix the damage and improve security.
He said: “It’s going to cost about £15,000 to replace everything; all the customers’ items as we offer buy-backs, our own items, and then more to reinforce our security, including installing shutters and a new door and windows.
“But the thing is, our customers will get their things back, and if they have been taken, we will replace them.”
There were no staff in the shop at the time of the incident.
“Unfortunately, our shop was just going through a complete refit at the time that this happened, so they got me at a difficult time.
“We are also disgusted as we are always willing to help the local community.
“The people next door at Edwards Jewellers said they heard banging, but thought nothing of it.
“There’s a car park at the back of the store, and they have smashed other people’s security floodlights, so that they cannot be seen on CCTV.”
Witnesses and anyone with information are asked to call Dorset Police on 101 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
