MARC Pugh was "delighted" to do away with the distraction of negotiating his long-term future after penning a fresh contract at Cherries.
The 28-year-old winger, the club's longest-serving player after signing from Hereford in June 2010, has agreed a new two-and-a-half-year deal which lasts until the summer of 2018.
Pugh has been a staple part of the club's ascent from the third tier to the Premier League with 41 goals in 216 league appearances and has his eye on more success once he shakes off an Achilles complaint.
"I wanted that security and now I can concentrate on my football without worrying about the contract side of things," said Pugh.
"I have always wanted my future to be at AFC Bournemouth. I love the place and it ticks all the boxes for me on and off the field. It is a great place to live and bring up your family, while on the field we're going in the right direction.
"It has been going on for a little bit but I am absolutely delighted. Now we can crack on and get up that Premier League table."
And Pugh lauded the way boss Eddie Howe had helped him stay focused on his football while negotiations took place.
"We just put it to one side and let my agent and the club deal with it," he added. "We concentrated on the football side because you can let it affect you if you read too much into it.
"I just want to get back on the field now and sort out this injury."
Pugh was talking to the club website.
