EVERTON manager Roberto Martinez addresses the media while the club's supporters call for him to be sacked in the stands. 

More than 100 fans stayed for more than an hour at Goodison Park, unfurling banners calling for Martinez to vacate his position, despite a 2-1 win over Cherries. 

Martinez said: "I understand football is a game full of passion and emotions.

"We have a very special football club so that comes when you don't win enough games and at home, we have not won enough and we have to face it. 

"My intention is to win football games and to be successful. That doesn't change. 

"It is a privilege and an honour to be manager of Everton. I have been here three years and I have a very strong understanding of what is needed, we need to learn from the mistakes."

On the game, he added: "It was always important to get back that winning feeling and that was what we did. 

 "I thought we started the game well with Tom Cleverley's very good finish. Then we felt hard done by with the Bournemouth goal being allowed to stand because Matthew Pennington was impeded. 

"But from that point on, there was enough for us to get back and we got the winning goal. At times we had to dig deep and show a really strong resilience.

"All in all, it was a hard-earned win and a win that we needed."
