GOALKEEPER Mark Travers was pleased to keep up his impeccable penalty record for Cherries at home this campaign.

The 20-year-old shot stopper is yet to be beaten from the spot with four attempts against him in senior games this season.

Travers memorably saved three spot-kicks in a Carabao Cup shootout against Forest Green at Vitality Stadium back in August.

And Luton’s Alan Sheehan fired his effort against the crossbar against the Irishman during Saturday’s 4-0 FA Cup third round victory for Eddie Howe’s men.

Asked about his latest penalty denial, Travers told the Daily Echo: “You saw it came back off his right foot when he slipped. You could say I had a chance of saving it but you never know in the end.

“Thankfully, it hit the crossbar and went out.”

Travers has played in every cup game for Cherries this season, as he competes with Aaron Ramsdale for a Premier League spot.

Assessing victory over the Hatters, the keeper added: “All the lads played really well. Everyone wanted the win and showed a good attitude, thankfully we got the good result.

“We needed to come out and get a good performance in, in front of the home fans.”

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s fourth round draw, the Republic of Ireland international said: “You always want a big game at a massive ground to test yourself – see if you can do it on that stage as well.

“But we just want to get as far as we can in the competition, so maybe a nicer draw could be better for us.”
