MIDFIELDER Philip Billing insisted it was “pretty easy” for him to deal with transfer speculation and reiterated his happiness at Cherries.
The Denmark international has impressed for Scott Parker’s side this season, netting eight times in 23 appearances in all competitions.
Copenhagen-born Billing was linked with a move to Premier League Norwich City last summer, while reports also surfaced last month about a possible reunion with Eddie Howe at Newcastle.
But having outlined his “love” for Cherries in an interview with a Danish publication last month, Billing admitted any transfer links were par for the course.
Asked how he dealt with speculation as a player, now that the window was open, the former Huddersfield Town man told the Daily Echo: “I think that’s pretty easy for me. There is always going to be interest when you are doing well.
“But for me, like I said in an interview the other day, I am happy here. I am enjoying my football.
“For me, that’s one of the reasons in the summer I stayed. The gaffer came in, I saw what he did in training was unbelievable and also I think we have a great chance of getting promotion.
“I want to be a part of that. I want to be a part of what’s going to happen here. Under the gaffer, I think it’s only going to be really good things.”
Billing has played 90 minutes in Cherries’ past two games, helping Parker’s troops top the Championship table heading into 2022.
Assessing the campaign so far, he said: “I think we have started well. Obviously we lost a few games, which is going to happen.
“If anyone ever thought we would go unbeaten this whole season, I think they’re crazy!
“We are going to lose games, we had a little bump on the road where we didn’t really perform and it was hard to find our feet.
“I think now we are back. At Queens Park Rangers, I think we put down a solid performance from everybody – really good without the ball.
“On Thursday, we just worked on scoring goals and I think if we can just keep going like this, for everybody I think people know we are a dangerous team – both defending and attacking.”
Cherries host Peterborough United in the Championship on Monday (7.45pm).
