JOSH McQuoid is patiently awaiting his first-team chance after being placed on red alert by Cherries’ personnel crisis.
The homegrown winger came off the bench in Saturday’s victory at Crewe Alexandra after Marvin Bartley was forced off with a calf injury.
With Bartley certain to miss the clash at Rotherham tonight (7.45pm), McQuoid could be required to step in.
And he is eager to make an impression if handed the opportunity.
“I’ll be happy if I have a part to play in the game,” said McQuoid.
“It’s up to Eddie, but if I play I will be delighted and will just try to do what I’ve done when I’ve been coming on recently.”
The youth team graduate added: “I’ve been working hard in training like I do normally.
“It’s frustrating when you just come off the bench, but if that’s my part to play then I’ll do as well as I can when I come on.
“I’m just happy to be in the squad, getting on and playing my part.”
Cherries’ threadbare squad has been decimated in recent weeks, with Sammy Igoe (ankle) and Warren Cummings (suspended) both ruled out.
Defender Scott Guyett became the latest addition to the absentee list when he was revealed as the ‘mystery man’ who sustained an injury following the defeat at Aldershot 10 days ago.
The Aussie defender faces at least a month on the sidelines with a knee injury, which could require surgery.
Howe’s player shortage led to the Football League granting permission for Cherries to recruit Rhoys Wiggins on an emergency loan deal at the end of last week.
Cherries were this morning waiting to find out if their bid to bring in Doncaster’s Mustapha Dumbuya had beaten the transfer deadline.
