EDDIE Howe has today agreed terms with Burnley to become the Lancashire club’s new manager, the Echo understands.
It is believed Cherries chairman Eddie Mitchell agreed compensation with the Championship outfit yesterday, paving the way for Howe to hold talks with the Turf Moor club.
Howe is set to take charge of Cherries for the final time tonight at Colchester United – his 100th game in charge of the Dorset club.
The 33-year-old is likely to be unveiled as the Clarets' new boss this weekend.
Cherries, meanwhile, are understood to have agreed a compensation package in the region of £300,000 for both Howe and assistant boss Jason Tindall.
Mitchell's search for a new manager is likely to begin this weekend, with representatives of two possible successors having already contacted Echo reporters to enquire about the possibility of a vacancy at Dean Court.
One potential candidate is a former Premier League star.
The Echo understands Steve Fletcher and Lee Bradbury are in line to take charge on a caretaker basis, starting with Tuesday night's trip to Rochdale.
The Echo exclusively revealed Howe had turned down both Crystal Palace and Charlton on our live blog on Tuesday, before breaking the news that Burnley had made an official approach for the rookie boss on Thursday.
• Neil Perrett will be blogging live from Colchester providing match updates tonight, while Neil Meldrum will also be on the blog to talk to fans about everything Eddie Howe...Join us from 7.30pm.
