Cherries look set to miss out on the signing of Ben Williamson.
The rookie striker spent the final five months of last season at Dean Court after joining the club from the Glenn Hoddle Academy.
He was last month offered a new contract by Cherries as boss Lee Bradbury was keen to retain his services.
But Bradbury confirmed that the Londoner was set to join Port Vale.
Bradbury told the Daily Echo: “It is a shame because he is a good player and I think he has a lot of potential.
“But I couldn't guarantee him first-team football with the quality of strikers we’ve got in the squad.
“I couldn’t promise that he’d be playing every week and I think he will be doing that at Port Vale, so that was an attraction for him.”
