KRZYSZTOF Kasprzak boosted his hopes of a Speedway European Championship medal with a strong showing at German track Güstrow on Saturday.
The experienced Pole scored 11 points and was beaten only by winner Artem Laguta with 15 and Andzejs Lebedevs with 14.
Kasprzak is fourth in the standings with two rounds to go, while Nicolai Klindt, who last week relinquished his team place at Poole due to the ongoing effects of a serious knee injury, managed five points including a victory in his opening ride.
The following day, Kasprzak totalled six paid seven for title-chasing Gorzow in their 49-41 loss at Grudziadz in the Polish top flight.
In Poland's second tier, Hans Andersen racked up 11 paid 12 in Lodz's 45-45 draw at Gdansk, while new Pirates signing Timo Lahti raced to nine for Daugavpils as they lost 51-39 at home to Tarnow.
Richie Worrall enjoyed a fruitful couple of days for Glasgow, bagging nine paid 10 in a 42-42 draw at Berwick in the SGB Championship.
The Tigers prevailed 58-32 in the return clash, Worrall roaring to 13 points.
James Shanes ended his weekend by winning a grasstrack event in Osnabrück, Germany having begun it by once again proving Peterborough's nemesis.
Guest Shanes rattled up a 10 paid 13 salvo in Sheffield's 50-40 success at the East of England Showground, meaning he had contributed to all three of Peterborough's home losses this season. For the Panthers, Jack Holder scored eight and Paul Starke seven paid nine.
On Sunday, Holder's 11 paid 12 haul and Starke's effort of eight paid nine aided Peterborough's cause in a 51-42 win at Redcar.
