I AM still wondering why the local authority with their development partners haven’t given strong consideration to the antiquated Town Hall reverting back to a hotel.

It was built as a hotel (the Mont Dore) and it would serve very favourably as a hotel if we had a five-star-plus hotel with plenty of parking, a south facing aspect overlooking the Lower Gardens, a golf course only a few hundred yards away accessible by golfing buggies, a new extension at the rear of the hotel for deliveries and the servicing of vehicles.

This would revitalise the pedestrianised town centre both in the day and in the evening, attracting a better class of visitors to Bournemouth in these challenging times.

Isn’t it about time we spent some of our council’s money building on land already owned by the council at Littledown? This land has absolutely no use for residential purpose.

So a new Town Hall could be built away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre, easily accessible via the Wessex Way, close to the hospital, the law courts and hotels for out of town visitors, with the added bonus of being within walking distance of residential properties for employees living locally.

Please let us spend some money wisely, let’s not build properties to knock them down when they are less than 10 years old.
