A POOLE care home has set up a camera in its garden to watch wildlife in its bug hotel and hedgehog home.

Residents at The Aldbury care home, which is specifically for those with dementia, can watch live footage from the comfort of the lounge which is particularly beneficial to those with mobility needs.

Companion Melissa Siat said: “Joyce, one of our residents, came up with a name for the bug house. She said ‘Why don’t we call it Buginham Palace? We’re posh here, we don’t do hotels, we have palaces instead’.

"We all loved that, so Buginham Palace it is. Megan and Claire even painted a beautiful sign with the name.”

Residents have used their weekly garden club meetings to build and furnish the bug hotel and hedgehog home and make the outdoor space as attractive as possible to nature.

Birdboxes have also been sanded down and repainted with more bird feeders added and mixed wildflower seeds planted to attract bees and butterflies.

Video clips are being shown on screens in different parts of the home
