In the olden days, before times of fat children and plastic games featuring Plasticine dog excrement, American films used to take months to reach the rest of the world, and computer software featured little moving blocks that bore little resemblance to the artistic renderings slapped onto the packaging.
The animated feature that bears this name was released over yonder in November last year, but we get that privilege on February 8, and the game, while mostly blessed with snazzy graphics, features a healthy payload of vintage blocks too.
The times they are a changing back, it seems.
So the game within a game that Wreck-It Ralph appears to be pits a burly fellow and his plumber mate against spitting insects, because someone dropped an egg in some goo.
It's not a great story, but the platforming action is retro enough to please the old-fashioned gamer greatly.
Repetitive and occasionally frustrating it may be, but that's '80s gaming for you.
