To be honest, I've lost track with the Metal Gear series. Over the last 900 games of Solid this and Liquid that, the storylines became so convoluted I was ready to boil my head in hot armpit sweat than suffer a new title.

Thankfully Revengeance (apparently it's a word - who knew?) puts all of that nonsense behind us and plops us about four years after the last MG title. They've still gone with the weird disembodied robot legs thing, though.

So it's all gone cyborg-crazy, and our rather idiotic-looking protagonist Raiden makes a return, eliminating terrorists with his nippy little sword. Then he runs into some even more jolly super cyborgs and gets his bum handed to him. Queue unfolding storyline.

Whereas previous MG efforts involved a whole mess of sneaking around like a putz, Revengeance (ugh...) sticks you and your spiffy scimitar right up in the enemy's face.

And there's some fierce slashing required because, hellfire, this thing is tough. Learn your art well, because this game will dominate you if you don't.
