CHEEKY is a word that best describes Olly Murs.
In an exclusive chat with 24Seven, the pop singer is fizzing with energy as he discusses his Castlepoint book signing, BIC show and new album.
He may have been the runner-up on the X Factor 2009 but Olly Murs has since proved himself to be the real winner.
With number one singles, two albums and a burgeoning television career under his belt, Essex boy Olly has carved out a niche as the boy-next-door-done good.
Ollymania is set to descend on Castlepoint today as 400 eager fans get the chance to meet the star at his book signing at Waterstones.
The sold-out event will mark the launch of his autobiography, Happy Days.
“It’s amazing we’ve sold-out.
“Bournemouth’s such a great place with its nightlife and I’m excited about the book signing and meeting everyone,” says Olly, 28.
For the expected hordes of screaming teenagers, it may be a chance to get up close and personal with the heartthrob.
“You always get strange requests.
“‘Can you sign my shoe? My ankle?’ and pretty much every part of the human body gets signed at some point.
“Normally though I sign the book or picture and then have a cuddle and a kiss.”
With two sold-out shows at the BIC earlier this year, Olly will be returning to the venue on March 8 next year.
“It’s such a long time away, but I’m keen to get the crowd going already.
“I’m looking at support acts at the moment, especially those who have a chance to make it in the music industry.”
This month sees the release of new single Troublemaker on November 18 and his third album, Right Place Right Time on November 26.
24Seven got an exclusive listen to his eagerly awaited album, which we felt had a more sophisticated sound.
“It’s anthemic in parts with big strings and production on tracks like Army of Two and Loud and Clear.
“I’m not changing my direction, but it’s an attempt to move with the times.
“I’m trying to give my fans something fresh and new.
“It’s a cool album that I hope shows a deeper side to the music.
“Troublemaker is a big song for me and the rest of the album follows suit.”
