UNLIKELY operatic duo Jonathan and Charlotte are set to embark on their first nationwide UK tour next month that arrives at the BIC Windsor Hall on June 25.
Jonathan Antoine and Charlotte Jaconelli, both still just 17, first came to attention during the 2012 series of Britain’s Got Talent They went on to reach the final of the series, performing in front of an audience of 14million.
The tour follows the release of their debut album Together, which shot to number five last year and became the highest-ever entry by a classical album into the main album chart.
The duo also hit TV screens last November in an emotional and revealing documentary chronic-ling their lives since finding fame on the show.
The programme gave an intimate insight into their unique journey and saw Jonathan and Charlotte travel across Europe to meet and perform with some of their idols – including receiving master-classes from Pavarotti’s vocal coach Leone Magiera and also world-famous tenor Rolanda Villazon, who describes Jon-athan’s voice as ‘absolutely astonishing.’ Rolando says: “It is amazing that he’s 17 and able to sing with that confidence and solid voice.
“He’s a very special performer. I can see he’s a special human being and the voice is the expression of the soul.”
Rolando added: “It was great to hear them live – they’re special, they transmit a lot of emotions, and yet they’re very natural and the young age is something that especially impresses you.
“I was very happy to work with them.”
