The team at Camp Bestival are in full-on summery mood with the festival just a week away. Lulworth Castle is being prepped for the festival that will run from August 1- 4. The last few remaining weekend tickets are still available for the event that will feature music from Richard Hawley, Labrinth, Mark Owen, Levellers, Ash, Sasha, Fabio & Grooverider and many more. Plus there will be fantastic entertainment from Mr Tumble, Dick N Dom, Horrible Histories, Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo and more than 100 things for kids to do.
There will also be dance workshops, theatre, In2Action’s Action Challenge, jousting, falconry, brilliant shows, amazing attractions and delicious food from the likes of the Young British Foodies. Following an incident during a live set earlier this year, Toots and the Maytals were sadly forced to cancel all of their forthcoming live shows, which unfortunately included Camp Bestival. Announced this week, roots-reggae legend Max Romeo will be coming to Lulworth Castle to step into the void.
One of the biggest stars to emerge from Jamaica in the 60s & 70s, Max was a pioneer of the roots sound and his seminal long player War Ina Babylon, one of the Black Ark holy trinity albums, became a must-have of the genre. With a back catalogue that includes I Chase The Devil, one of reggae’s biggest and most influential hits, One Step Forward, War Ina Babylon, Uptown Babies and Let The Power Fall.
