FRESH from a headlining turn at Camp Bestival at the weekend, promising singer-songwriter Gabrielle Aplin will be playing a date at the O2 Academy Bournemouth on November 12.
Incredibly, the self-taught 20-year-old from Bath has been writing and recording songs since she was 15.
At 17 she set up her own label Never Fade Records (just recently she announced her first signing) and went on to release three EPs, all of which charted on iTunes. She currently has in excess of 29 million YouTube views to date. Her debut Parlophone Records single, a cover of Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s The Power Of Love, went to number one on the UK Top 40 Singles Chart.
Her debut album English Rain was relased in May and Gabrielle wrote or co-wrote all the new songs on the album as well as playing the majority of the instruments herself. Of her songwriting Gabrielle says: “It can take minutes, hours or weeks – each one is different – but I’ve been working on this album now for months – from writing to recording, even being involved with the artwork. I can’t wait for everyone to finally hear it.”
