THIS July, punk icon John Lydon (or Johnny Rotten, if you prefer) will be returning to Bournemouth for the first time since 1986.
Lydon will be performing with his band Public Image Ltd (PiL) at the O2 Academy Bournemouth on July 31.
Ticket go on sale at 9am this Friday and will be priced at £25.
Public Image Limited was born when John Lydon famously split from the Sex Pistols in 1978.
Lydon set about creating a new sound, fusing a much wider range of genres than anyone would have assumed.
Disco, kraut rock, world music and jazz were all thrown into the mix.
Initially, PiL were criticised by punks for making the music they’d sought so hard to destroy; however, the band and, indeed, the post punk genre they represent, has proved increasingly influential as time has gone on, with bands like Bloc Party and Foals citing them both as an inspiration. These days, Lydon is the only survivor from the original line-up and will be joined by Lu Edmonds, Bruce Smith and Scott Firth.
