POP phenomenon Steps bring their reunion tour to the BIC on Monday night.
The 90s band dominated the charts over a five-year period, and had an impressive run of 14 consecutive top five singles that got the nation dancing, including One For Sorrow and Heartbeat/Tragedy.
The Brit-award winning group comprises of down-to-earth northerner Lee Latchford Evans and his rather more fey counterpart Ian ‘H’ Watkins and three girls, Faye Tozer, Claire Richards and Lisa Scott-Lee.
After splitting in 2001, they reformed last year for a documentary series on Sky Living titled Steps: The Reunion. The Bournemouth date has proved one of the hottest tickets for 2012 and recently released Greatest Hits album, The Ultimate Collection entered the charts at the top, becoming the band’s third UK No1 album.
Lee Latchford Evans spoke to the Daily Echo in November about the forthcoming reunion show: “We took a risk and it paid off. We are back together and we will have to see what the coming year brings. We’ll gauge the reaction to the tour and take it one step – pardon the pun – at a time.”
