NEVER mind the Jubilee, first-generation punk legends The Buzzcocks are in town tonight for a sold-out show at Mr Kyps in Parkstone. The Buzzcocks released one of the first British punk records with their Spiral Scratch EP in 1977.
One of the original holy trinity of British punk bands (with the Sex Pistols and the Clash), the group still has a loyal international following.
Front man Pete Shelley will be belting out classic hits such as Boredom, What Do I Get and of course Ever Fallen In Love With Someone (You Shouldn’t Have Fallen In Love With?) Over the weekend, the BBC is to celebrate the birth of the punk revolution with a series of programmes on radio and TV. The season commemorates 35 years since three-chord wonders achieved national prominence and will be spearheaded by a BBC4 series Punk Britannia, which will feature contributions from Pete Shelley and fellow Buzzcocks.
