THE British beat invasion of America in 1964 is always referred to in revered terms as The Beatles took the States by storm, racking up chart hits and leading other British bands of the era to success across the pond. The American response was not long in coming with the Motown invasion of Britain in 1965, culminating in the Ready, Steady, Go Motown Special in April of that year, hosted by Dusty Springfield. The real super stars of that show were The Supremes.
Their Stop In The Name Of Love! stole the show and the British charts. Now there is a chance to relive the magic of Motown when The Sounds of The Supremes, led by 70s/80s Supreme, Kaaren Ragland, are at the Regent in Christchurch for one night only on Friday, June 15 at 7.30pm.
The Sounds of The Supremes are the only group to be endorsed by the Tamla Motown and Universal record labels. Kaaren was a former member of original Supreme, Mary Wilson’s 70s/80s group. They will be at the Regent in Christchurch on Friday, June 15 at 7.30pm.
