THERE’S nothing quite like a homecoming from one of the finest live breaks acts to warm a cold January night. The Winchester is rammed, it is hot and Freefall Collective have taken to the stage.
After appearing at some of the best festivals, it seems that the five-piece have rarely graced their hometown.
This point has not been missed by the crowd who have been finely warmed by Mr Doris.
The venue reeks of anticipation. This group of musicians stand out because of their live act. Decks, drums, guitar and vocals combine breakbeat and drum ‘n’ bass with elements of dub and soulful singing.
Bournemouth has not seen enough of the live band of late because of work on their latest recordings, Sounds Out Of Time, but tracks performed from this album suggest it has been time well spent.
The sounds of sirens disburse breaks across the fuelled dance floor. Female vocals bring moments of euphoria and to keep you focused, there are hints of reggae and elements of hip hop.
There is even an acoustic track to keep things fresh. Once the beats are faded it is time to reflect – playing in your back garden is fun.
